South Africa offers a unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else. This is largely due to the people, as there is nobody quite like South Africans. They are among the most fun and friendly people you will ever meet, and their deep knowledge of the country is unmatched. That is why we wanted to showcase South Africa to Dutch travelers through the eyes of locals.
To convey the warm and positive atmosphere of South Africa, we used the word "lekker," which means "great" or "nice" in both Afrikaans and Dutch. We created over 40 social and digital assets as the campaign’s success led to localisation for the Belgian and Swedish markets as well.
For this project we created 10 tips which we cut down into short videos for social. Here are my favourite ones below:
Tip: Veld & Sea
Discover the flavours that grow all around us in this wild food foraging adventure. Local Zandi recommends this experience for its expert knowledge and delicious discoveries.
Tip: Terra Khaya
Ride into the sunset on this beautiful adventure. Using natural horsemanship techniques and no bits, the horses respond warmly to every rider. This is local Karabo’s favourite place to ride.
Tip: Night Snorkeling
This unexpected tip by local diver Kimerudi, invites you to explore the beauty of the ocean at night. Discover a whole new world underwater in this unique experience with creatures that can only be seen at night.
Tip: Surfing
Local Mark invites you to visit Witsand beach and experience the thrill of riding the best waves in the Western Cape. With its pristine waters and breathtaking scenery, Witsand offers a truly unforgettable surfing experience.
Tip: Stony Point Reserve
Home to a unique colony of African penguins, here you can watch the birds up close, in their natural habitat without disturbing them. Khosie recommends this lesser known spot as the perfect place to escape the crowds.
